Round Two for SustiNet

Congratulations! SustiNet has taken a major step forward to becoming implemented in Connecticut. Yesterday, SustiNet passed the House of Representatives with a vote of 107 Yea to 35 Nay; a vote along party lines. The passage of the bill is something to be proud of, but also shows us that we have some work to do before it is voted on in the Senate.

Republicans are voting against the bill, which means we need to inform them that Connecticut wants and needs SustiNet now. We need to make sure some Republicans vote for the bill in the Senate because we have to worry about not only having them pass the bill, but start fortifying enough votes to obtain a veto-proof.

The Governor will most likely kill this bill. So, the time to convince our legislators that this is important to us is now, before it reaches her desk. Let's not sit-back and be content that it will pass the democratically-controlled Senate without a problem. Even though it most likely will, we need to send the message now and prepare for a veto from the Governor. Let's get the votes from our legislators while we still can.

Therefore, I challenge you to contact your legislators; especially if they are Republican! If you are in a Republican district- reach out to your neighbors, make calls, write letters. You may have to work a little harder but you have a tremendous amount of clout in this situation. Please take advantage and help SustiNet break the boundaries of passing by just party vote.
